let me just say

i'm glad i'm practicing yoga.
now.
at this point in my life.

i'd done it before.
four years of acting school and it wouldn't be an acting school if i hadn't done yoga.

but we never trained in it, never did it rigorously or diligently.

mostly, i tried not to think about how pissed off i was that i was doing yoga at acting school. :)

but i'm glad i'm doing it.
now.
at this point in my life.

i'm ready for it.
i'm ready to focus, to re-shape, and re-energize my mind.
it calms me,
helps me sink and settle into my shape,
helps me find ways to release, relax, re-breathe, reform.
it strengthens me, teaches me, shows me ways to lighten up and push myself forward.

i can feel the tension leave my mind, if only for an hour, thirty minutes, fifteen.
i'm practicing release.
and if only for those few minutes am i truly releasing,
i'm practicing it, bit by bit by bit.

that makes a body and a heart feel good, ya know?

**also-- my studio kicks ass. only power yoga, and if you don't watch out you get the russian nazi for a teacher who is ruthless.

i decided my blog has been too boring recently

and that i wanted something rad on it.

and then.

i thought

about candy corn.

BOOM!

i wanted to know how it was made.

i discovered this:

"Candy corn has been around for more than a century. George Renninger of the Wunderlee Candy Company invented it in the 1880s. It was originally very popular among farmers and its look was revolutionary for the candy industry. The Goelitz Candy Company started making candy corn in 1900 and still makes it today, although the name has changed to the Jelly Belly Candy Company." source

i also discovered that candy corn's recipe has not changed sinced it originated,
(which could be kind of gross, but mostly i think it's kind of awesome.)

and also that it is, in fact, FAT FREE.
let's not go crazy here, though. be real. if you're gonna eat candy corn (and i am) you're eating
sugar, water, corn syrup, fondant, and marshmallow.

and if you're eating those mellowcreme pumpkins?
toss in some honey.

and then i found this!

homemade candy corn!
from cakespy

she's got a great recipe and everything.

soo, that's that.
that's pretty rad!

inspired by my sister

There's a bright golden haze on the meadow,
There's a bright golden haze on the meadow,
The corn is as high as an elephant's eye,
An' it looks like its climbin' clear up to the sky.

 Oh what a beautiful morning,
Oh what a beautiful day,
I've got a wonderful feeling,
Everything's going my way.

All the cattle are standing like statues,
All the cattel are standing like statues,
They don't turn their heads as they see me ride by.
But a little brown mav'rick is winking her eye.

Oh what a beautiful morning,
Oh what a beautiful day,
I've got a wonderful feeling,
Everything's going my way.

All the sounds of the earth are like music,
All the sounds of the earth are like music,
The breeze is so busy it don't miss a tree,
And an ol' Weepin' Willer is laughin' at me.

**my promise to myself today?
do all good things.
do only, all good things for myself.
happy friday, loved ones.

blllleeeeegggg!!

oh i love guacamole!
and i love clever ideas.
balls to the walls, my friends, balls to the walls.

(and on that note, if you're a younger sibling/cousin of mine,
let's pretend i didn't publicly say "balls.") thanks.

kill me now

it's so perfect.
look at those little white hearts.

i found rad heart tights at target this past weekend.
in purple.
and gray.
i got gray to be safe (oh if i'm gonna have a splurge, i must splurge responsibly.)
an eight dollar splurge for gray heart dotted tights is more than worth it.

i want one

 the flack
 i always get for pairing
beautiful yellows with gorgeous reds. :P

harrypottermore

hearts are a thing with me

my new favorite tv show

ohh as many of you know
i'm kinda happy about my new hobby:

BOXING.

one night, i'm youtube-ing mma women fights, when a dear love of mine suggests a new show:

BULLY BEATDOWN.

of course, at first, i was appalled.

WHAT?! mma fighters beat up bullies?! THAT SOUNDS HORRIBLE.

aaaand then i watched it.
and of course i loved it.

the fighting is perfect, if you want to watch someone get their ass kicked who needs to learn a lesson.
the fighting is okay, if you're watching for technical specifics, as i am (the mma fighters are obviously so much better than the bullies that there is zero contest.) i keep scrolling back to watch torso-twists and open-ends on the part of the bullies.
the show is AMAZING, if you're into watching buttheads get a taste of their own medicine and wind up crying on the floor.

HONESTLY, how the heck do these chubby bullies ACTUALLY believe they can win these fights?
delusions.
so many broken delusions.

a little jolt on a monday morning

my favorite show.

aaaand
see that lady in the purple dress?
karen olivo?
the tony award winner?

yeah, she's from my school.

if...

if i suddenly found myself working in a chocolate shop...
that would be alright with me. :)

are you in Cincinnati?

'cause OTR is awesome right now.

MPMF brings out the best of everyone.

i'm in a cafe, looking killa AND comfortable.
red shoes
gray/black heart tights
form-fitting black skirt
gray sweatshirt
red sequin heart in loose, wild hair

i'm at iris.
which has its doors flung open.

a ROCKING band (the mudpies) has set up two storefronts down
AND THEY ARE JAMMIN.

**also, does EVERY band in the world know that all they have to do is point to me and give me a shout out and i'm theirs forever? because everyone does it. does that make me easy??

they're stopping everyone!
everyone is watching and loving it!
the street is full of so many great, happy, sexy (hello, they're musicians on tour) people!

i keep leaving my table at iris and stepping out to jam!
they're doing a funk version of "boy named sue," which i love!

also, i'm feeling the OTR love right now...
i boxed this morning.
and then jogged.
and now i'm in an OTR cafe, having a very excellent dinner and drinking a chai tea.
yum yum.

if you're not here...maybe you should be? :)
i'm just sayin'...

you're only young once.

black and white

i ended friday on a high note

i was having a pretty rotten friday.
Thursday led right into it, I couldn't sleep, i couldn't do anything.
i couldn't focus, i didn't know what i should be doing with my time, it was exhausting to even think about getting up and showering and clothing myself.

so i went to mass. and cried all through it.

and i went to a coffee shop and talked with a friend.

and i went to the library.

and then i walked past a boxing gym.
and turned around.
and walked back into it.

"Do you guys have something I can hit?"

yes! yes! of course! come on in! have you hit anything before?

no. i hadn't.

two minutes later. my hands are wrapped. i've gloves on. i'm still in my jeans.
and i'm learning 1-2 on a hitting bag with a behemoth named tony warchild, (tattoos on face, mohawk, happy, polite, pleasant demeanor.)

four hours later, i'm leaving, and signed up for classes.
i've a knot on the top of my foot from kicking someone's elbow (i'll learn,) and i know i need to eat more food before boxing (a bagel and a cup of coffee is not enough, OBVIOUSLY.)

and i'm a happy lady, happier than i've been in awhile.
<3

OHYEAH
and i went to mpmf day 2, for like, ten minutes.
i bought a sandwich and watched the graffiti artists do their thing.
then i left.
it's not always so awesome when you're by yourself.

AND besides, i needed to sleep for my boxing class this morning.  !!!

MPMF night 1

soo, i wasn't in the mood for a music festival last night.
and i went anyway.
it was okay, but i'm obviously still not really in the mood for it.

i wore
teal ribbon.

modcloth yellow dress.
BACKWARDS (the front was just too much.)

green cardigan.

boots with matching belt, and red heart.

i heard:
Aunt Martha, 500 Miles to Memphis, and some rocking group at Grammer's tent (who I just looked up--The Joy Formidable.)

i always love cake.

i always love cake.

and halloween.

and pennants, bunting, flags, garlands, celebrations.

leia head

it's supposed to be part of a costume
but i think it's best as an everyday hat
and also with your baby.

oh for a saturday

love this t-shirt dress

with these pebble earrings

and this oversized clutch.

all linked up, love 'em like i do!

i want these shoes soooo much

seychelles
ampersand heel
i  have a yellow dress just crying for them.

excuse me, while i get all lamp shade-y on you

congratulations, everyone, you've killed the moustache trend

the moustache trend is very overdone.

we've killed it.

unless

you're a baby.
(or a dog?)

then the trend comes full circle

and begins to re-rock.

psssst

Midpoint Music Fest begins tonight.
truth be told, i'm actually feeling kinda apprehensive about it.

most of the venues are in bars.
what's weirder than sitting in a bar by yourself?

i mean, i've done it before.
and it has always been great.
i make friends quickly, and i like to talk to people.

...but...that doesn't change my nerves....RIGHT NOW.

at it's most basic level, i plan to enjoy the music. to sit back, relax, be open to whatever i am feeling, and enjoy the music.

tonight's most looked-forward to hits: Brass Bed, Aunt Martha, 500 Miles to Memphis

Horray!
